At this time of year, I always reflect on what I am grateful for. And always, there is so much.

What initially comes to mind is that it seems as if there has been a grand exhale. Although Covid still lurks, earlier this month, I had the exhilarating experience of attending a client’s gala and feeling the energy in the room. The board, staff, participants and their families, and devoted friends had boundless enthusiasm for the organization and were delighted to share it. It was a reminder of past in-person events and held the promise of what we are all yearning to recoup.

Then, as I more broadly consider the nonprofit landscape, I am grateful to be connected to exceptional organizations putting equity and justice front and center. The world depends on it. Change is everywhere as organizations figure out how to work – in-person, remote, hybrid – or contemplate a critical leadership transition. We are all experiencing significant change in one way or another. It is ever thus.

As we gather in the coming days and weeks and give thanks for all we hold dear, let’s reaffirm our commitment to do our part to ensure every nonprofit’s mission is infused with energy and passion.

Thank you to my clients, colleagues, and friends for the opportunity to do meaningful work with you. Let us continue to strive together.

I am truly thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!
