Ignore Infrastructure at Your Nonprofit’s Peril

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “infrastructure” as: “The underlying foundation or basic framework (as of a system or organization).”

Not particularly alluring.

Programs and services. Working with clients. Effecting change. Now we’re talking. Yet, without adequate infrastructure, these are not achievable.

I recently attended a condominium board meeting to find out what was happening in our building. The condominium board hired a consulting firm to assess the common areas in the building and identify ways to maximize space. One of the initial findings was that the bicycle room was not efficiently organized.
